The Crawfordsville Wednesday Study Club met the afternoon of Nov. 16, at the home of Clarissa Malmberg.

President Pauline Richardson conducted the business meeting including the flag salute, the club collect, the reading of the October meeting minutes and the treasurer?s report. Several book briefs were also given.

Janice Twinam presented the program ?Strike Up the Bands? centering around the history of Iowa bands and Iowa band leaders/conductors. Members also reminisced about the instruments they played at school and community bands they participated in.

The next meeting will be held at the So Dear to My Heart Bed and Breakfast on Dec. 7. Each member is to bring a favorite Christmas decoration to share and paper products for a donation to Lending Hands.

A delicious autumn dessert was enjoyed by all provided by the hostess Clarissa and co-hostess Pauline.

On Saturday, Dec. 3, the Confirmation Class will be serving the Saturday Kitchen at the Presbyterian Church in Washington. Hands are needed for this project, so if you would be willing to volunteer to help, please add your name to the sign-up sheet in the narthex.

There is also a sign-up sheet on the table in the hall for those needed to ring bells for the Salvation Army at the Washington Wal-Mart on Sunday, Dec. 11 and Dec. 18. The Ainsworth Church would like the group to help out during their worship time from 10:30 a.m. until noon.

The United Church Women will meet at the church at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 13, to pool rides to go to the Applewood Bistro at Halcyon House for their Christmas luncheon at 11:30 a.m. All ladies of the church are welcome to go.
