The U.C.W. of the United Church of Crawfordsville met Tuesday, May 12, at 2 p.m. with 10 ladies present
Wilma McAllister gave the meditation, "Spring Cleaning for Heart and Soul."
President Debbie Lowe called the business meeting to order and everyone read the Opening Creed in unison. The secretary read the minutes of the April 14, meeting which were approved as read and the treasurer's report was given and will be filed for audit.
Various committee reports were given.
Old Business: It was reported that the Riverboat Foundation Grant, which the church had applied for to update facilities in the kitchen and church had been approved.
New Business: It was moved to transfer money for the kitchen remodeling project and to pay pledges which are due to both the U.M. and U.P.
Upcoming events for the U.M.W. were discussed.
There will not be a June meeting and the next regular meeting will be Tuesday, July 14, at 2 p.m. Meditation and hostess will be by Clarissa Malmberg.
Due to Memorial Day and vacation in June, Dorcas will not meet again until June 22. They reported completing four quilts ? three adult and one baby ? at the last meeting with many more started. Five were taken to the VA Hospital in Iowa City.
Work Committees: May : Cathy Williams and Carol Steele and June: Donna Fletcher and Wilma McAllister.
Alumni Banquet will be Saturday, June 13, with Gene Miller and Wayne Lowe in charge.
The meeting was adjourned and the Closing Creed read together.
President Debbie thanked Wilma for being hostess and closed with Scripture from 1 John 5:1 and also a thought from a devotional book by Joyce Meyer.
The Crawfordsville Lions Club will be sponsoring a blood drive on Monday, June 1, from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the United Church of Crawfordsville. Questions may be directed to David Jewell at 319-658-2711 or 319-931-2044.
Sunday, June 7, there will be a HACAP Fish Fry at the United Church of Crawfordsville from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Admission is by donation of nonperishable food items and paper supplies. (Please be aware they cannot accept anything outdated.) These items will be given to the Washington HACAP Center. Monetary donations are also accepted. The money is used for food vouchers for bread, meat, milk, eggs and other perishable items. This event is sponsored by the Membership and Missions Committee.
