WRAP-UP of BIBLE SCHOOL
On Sunday, July 13, 2025 children from the United Church of Crawfordsville and Ainsworth Community Church presented a Bible School program at the United Church of Crawfordsville and Ainsworth Community Church during worship service. The children shared many songs and Bible verses they had learned at Bible School Monday, July 7 through Thursday, July 10 from 5 p.m.-7:30 p.m. The decorations in the sanctuary were beautiful.
The theme was a fiesta theme, "Let's TACO bout Jesus." Carman Davis was the director of all the curriculum. Her goal was to teach the kids the great characteristics of Jesus- for example: faithful friends, forgiving, love and protector. She and her helpers just wanted to show the kids that Jesus is the answer!
Each day started with a theme. Monday's was: "Jesus is a faithful friend and we can trust him." Then a Bible verse and then a Bible story: Fruit of the Spirit. The take away from this story was that the fruit of the Spirit has nine character traits: love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. They then had the song: "Fruit of the spirit, I'm so Grateful." Each day they had a meal and a Craft, Game and Snacks. The craft on Monday was "Fruit of the Spirit Windchimes."
Tuesday the Theme was "Jesus loves us and forgives us" then a Bible Story: Ruth and Naomi. The take away from this story was even though they had struggles they faced their circumstances with boldness and wise and courageous actions. Their song was "Love like you." Their meal was next and their craft: Heart weaving yarn craft. The children made more than one and handed them out to the congregation to "Spread love.'
Wednesday: The theme was: "Jesus protects us and will take care of us" and then a Bible verse, then a Bible story: Option #1: Parable of the Great Value and the Hidden Treasure or Option #2: Jonah and the Big fish. Take away from this story: The parable shows us that absolutely NOTHING compares to the precious joy of being in a relationship with Jesus. Jonah's story shows the mercy of God and the importance of obedience. It shows even when we make bad choices, we can always turn back to God. Their song: "Thank you God." Next was their meal and the craft: Colors of the Faith Sand art craft, which they again shared with their congregation. The days always finished with games and snacks.
The VBS concluded on Thursday when families were invited to come for supper and see all the kids had accomplished during the week. There was a very good attendance, with 46 children, being the most one evening.
Carmen and all her helpers provided beautiful decorations, crafts and meals throughout the week. Those who helped were Pastor Jason, Jordan and Shelby Hill, John and Jackie Brown (John had just gotten home from deployment and very generously gave his first night home helping with VBS.) Also, Josh and Brooke Hesseltine, Emily Boylan, Duane Lewis, Alyson Whiting, Morgan Meyer, Marcus and Brittany Davis, Kelsey Twinam, Duncan and Steffanie Bell, Adam Stafford and Izzy Collier. Also, from Ainsworth, Karen Megchelsen, Rachel Carstensen, Marcia Wilson, Janet Rees, Jan Temple, Ann Freyenberger and Winnie Steele.
