ALASKAN TRIP
Scott and Jeanne Davis Flew from Des Moines Friday, Aug. 9 and took a Holland America Cruise to Alaska. They first flew to Seattle and then got on a ship and sailed to Juneau. While in Juneau they went whale watching and saw the Mendenhall Glacier, which was causing much flooding in the area. They sailed through Glacier Bay where they saw more whales and Dawes Glacier. Other ports visited were Sitka, Ketchikan and Victoria, British Columbia.
The weather was great — sunny and not too cold. The scenery was beautiful and the food excellent.
While in Seattle, they were able to visit a niece of Jeanne's which made the trip even more special.
On their return they got off the ship in Seattle on the 17th and flew back to Des Moines. It was a very long day, which started on the ship, then took a shuttle to the airport, got on a plane, took a tram, another plane and then landed in Des Moines and then stayed at a friend's house and got home on the 18th.
