The Crawfordsville Wednesday Study Club met at the So Dear To My Heart Bed and Breakfast for their meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 7.
The business meeting was conducted by President Pauline Richardson. The flag salute and club collect were recited. Several book briefs were given. The minutes and treasurer?s report were given and approved.
Two books have been purchased by the club and placed in the Washington Public Library in the memory of recently deceased member Marie Dare.
Donations of paper products were collected for Lending Hands in Washington.
There will be no meeting in January. The next meeting will be Feb. 15, 2017. The theme ?Love is in the Air? will be a group sharing of wedding memories.
The election of officers will be held.
The program theme of ?Christmas Decorations? was led by Rachel Koehler. She first gave an interesting account of the origins, customs and traditions of mistletoe. Then each member shared the stories of the Christmas decorations and ornaments they had brought with them.
Hostess Rachel was thanked for the treats she provided.
Twenty-eight were present for the Crawfordsville Lions annual Christmas party held Monday evening, Dec.12 at Bryn Mawr Steakhouse.
Those attending were Scott and Jeanne Davis, Darrell and Mary Egli, Randy and Linda Finke, Larry and Donna Fletcher, Rick and Annette Fulton, Joel and Luetta Greene, Craig and Rachel Koehler, Gene and Betty Lintz, Larry and Nancy Love, Mike Massey, Gene and Pat Miller, Lance Miller, Adam Mitchell, Billie Jo Rose, Larry Swailes, and Mindy Wilson. Also present were Mike Massey?s guests, his neighbors, Dave DeLovley and Sheri Fort, new residents in the community.
The community is once again reminded of the Christmas Eve worship service at the United Church of Crawfordsville at 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 24, Worship will be held at 9 a.m. as usual on Christmas Day at the United Church of Crawfordsville.
Mary Long, former Crawfordsville resident, will be observing her 98th birthday on Dec. 22. Mary is now residing at Sunrise Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Winfield. Her address is Room 305, 706 West Central, Winfield, IA 52659. She really enjoys cards and would appreciate birthday and Christmas cards.
Marshal Rose, former Crawfordsville resident, is now a resident of Brownlee Health Center, Room 159, United Presbyterian Home, 1203 E. Washington St., Washington, IA, 52353 and he would enjoy having people stop by to visit.
