Arvid Anderson attended as a delegate from the Crawfordsville Lions Club, the Iowa Lions District 9 SE Convention on Saturday, April 13, 2019, in New London.
Lions International Director Geoffrey Wade and his wife , Nancy came from Fort St. Lucia, Fla. Lion Wade was the key note speaker. Lion Arvid gave the nomination speech for Lion Rev. Nancy Oehler Love for 2nd Vice District Governor and Lion Love was elected to this position in the afternoon.
The convention was well attended with many of the District 9 SE 49 clubs in attendance.
Twelve members of the Crawfordsville Wednesday Study and three guests met in the UCC Fellowship Hall at 2 p.m. on April 17, 2019.
Guest speaker, Kali Eastin, gave a most interesting presentation 'Exploring the World of Blood Centers.” She works with the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center. Kali explained the uses of blood types, facts about blood, blood drives and other information learned from a quiz she gave the group to test their knowledge. The Crawfordsville Lions Club members were invited to attend this presentation and one member, Billie Jo Rose of the Lions Club, who helps with their drives, did attend. The Lions Club organizes two blood drives in Crawfordsville each year. Pastor Jason Collier also attended.
Following the program, hostesses Ruth Erwin, Marilyn Rees and Joan Anderson served a variety of snack foods from an Easter themed table.
A brief meeting was then conducted. The minutes and treasurer's report were read and approved. Book briefs were given. As usual, there were many books on display for sharing.
The next meeting will be a field trip 'Exploring the Kalona Area” on May 15. Leaders Debbie Lowe and Rachel Koehler will announce details closer to the date. A Dutch treat lunch is planned. Reading lists will be due at this meeting.
Thirteen members of the Crawfordsville Lions Club and guests Pastor Jason Collier and Chad McClanahan met Monday, April 22, 2019 at the Crawfordsville Community Room at 7 p.m.
President Adam Mitchell opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and Lion Nancy Love gave the opening prayer. The secretary's report was approved as read. There was no treasurer's report.
The scholarship recipient has been chosen and the award will be given on Awards Night at WACO High School.
It is not known whether the Crawfordsville Community Club will be having a Fun Day in July, but Lion Mitchell will let us know at the next meeting.
Lion Nancy reported that she was elected 2nd Vice District Governor at the District 9 SE Convention on April 13 and that Lion Arvid Anderson had given the nomination speech.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
