On Sunday evening, Feb. 8, seven members of the Confirmation Class of the United Church of Crawfordsville and Ainsworth Community Church traveled to the Student Center at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant, to hear music and testimony of Bobby Colquhoun and his ministry Live God Now. He is a former rock star, drug addict and he has spent time in prison. He told of God's loving, saving grace that transformed his life. Bobby has opened for Mercy Me, Jeremy Camp and Big Daddy Weave. He has been featured on the 700 Club and his story is being made into a motion picture.
This was an awesome event! Around 100 youth were in attendance.
Attending were: Joe and Lexi Collier, Graycen Anderson, Ellie Anderson Carson Bean and Gabby Dawley. Pastor Jason Collier and Cliff and Juanita Dawley accompanied the group.
The United Church Women met at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, with 13 women and Pastor Jason Collier present.
Pat Miller presented the meditation from the book Women of Faith with articles by Patsy Clairmont, "Fervor," and Debbie Macomber, "One Perfect Word," which emphasized choosing one word for the year and focusing on it.
President Debbie Lowe called the meeting to order. Members read together the UCW Opening Creed.
Dorcas: Sewing Days: Monday, Feb. 23, Monday, March 9, and Monday, March 23. It was reported the ladies had finished, delivered and were still working on many quilts.
Cards, Flowers and Gifts: Several cards had been sent.
The Least Coin Offering was taken and the prayer read in unison.
Reports were given pertaining to kitchen updating.
Pastor Jason reported on an upcoming event at Iowa Wesleyn College on Sunday, March 1, at 2:30 p.m. There will be a lecture series by Shane Claiborne, activist and author. He will have two lectures: Living as an Ordinary Radical and Another Way of Doing Life.
The Hymn Sing is also March 1 at 7 p.m. here.
March 6, will be World Day of Prayer at Ainsworth Community Church at 1:30 p.m. Those wishing to attend may meet at the church at 1 p.m. to carpool.
The next regular meeting is April 14. Cathy Williams will have the meditation and be hostess. The Birthday offering will be taken.
Work Committees: February: Pat Miller and Deb Lowe and March: Nancy Rugg and Janet Whiting
President Lowe thanked Pat for being hostess and then read Matthew 25:40. The reading encouraged people as they exit the doors of the church to go out and serve as they are entering the Mission Field.
On March 1, the Hymn Sing will be held at the United Church of Crawfordsville at 7 p.m. The Puppets will be present and the Praise Band will also perform.
