Crawfordsville News: Club news and updates

The Wyman Community Club met Monday, Nov. 5, 2018, at Ainsworth Four Corners for an 11:30 a.m. luncheon with 17 present.

Following lunch John Wittrig shared with the group a humorous poem he had written while recently hospitalized.

Attending were: John Wittrig and Laura Wittrig of Winfield; Vivan and Eileen Jennings and Ray and Shirley Hendrickson, of Iowa City; Wilma Vosburg, of Grinnell; Ruth Johnston, of Ainsworth; Jane Kaczinski and Joan Love, of Washington; Frieda Finke, Pauline Richardson, Billie Jo Rose, Ruth Erwin, Margaret Patterson, and Larry and Nancy Love, of Crawfordsville.

The club's next meeting will Dec. 3, at Ainsworth Four Corners at 11:30 a.m.

Ten members of the White Cloud Club met Tuesday, Nov. 6, for lunch at the Frontier Restaurant in Wayland.

Following lunch, Margaret Patterson, president, had several different kinds of leaves in a box and each member was asked to pick a leaf and the leaf was supposed to be a reminder to members of what they are thankful for.

Margaret then opened the meeting with a reading about Thanksgiving called 'You Made a Difference.” Roll call was answered with 'How many cookies do you bake?”

Pat Miller read last month's minutes and gave the treasurer's report. The club dues are now payable and new club books were also distributed.

Attending were Jolene Colthurst, Frieda Finke, Joyce Huff, Betty Lintz, Betty Lucas, Pat Miller, Margaret Patterson, Pauline Richardson, Virginia Sands and Shannon Sells.

Next month the club will be having a cookie and gift exchange at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4 at Jolene Colthursts home.

The WACO Community is again inviting everyone to join in a Community Thanksgiving Dinner at the WACO High School on Thursday, Nov. 22 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Local churches will provide homemade foods such as turkey, ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, corn casserole, green bean casserole, stuffing, rolls, desserts and much more. They also will have gluten-free foods this year.

Meals can also be delivered by calling Tamara at 319-217-2456 by Thursday, Nov. 15.
