Wisconsin visit
Wayne and Debbie Lowe recently traveled to Lodi, WI for the weekend of May 20--22 to visit with Lance, Karen and Jordan Brisky, Gary and Cheryl Brisky, Kaelyn Brisky from St. Paul, MN and Grace Hurst from River Falls, WI.
On Saturday, the 21st, the Women attended a bridal shower held for Kaelyn, Wayne and Debbie's granddaughter. Kaelyn and Sam Burke will be married August 20, 2022.
Wednesday Study Club
Six members of the Crawfordsville Wednesday Study Club met in the United Church of Crawfordsville lounge at 2 p.m. on June 15, 2022. Present were Ruth Erwin, Rachel Koehler, Debbie Lowe, Clarissa Malmberg, Janice Twinam and Cathy Williams. Pauline Richardson and Linda Wiltfang were unable to attend.
It was determined during a business meeting that officers are no longer needed for the group except for a secretary/treasurer. Debbie will continue in this capacity. She will make new program books which will include a membership list, meeting dates and hostess names for each meeting. A sign-up sheet was passed around for the 2022-23 program book.
Rachel gave a program on the history of church cookbooks and information about recorded recipes and cookbooks even earlier in history--the 1700's and 1800's. The oldest cooking text/recipe was found in Mesopotamia chiseled on stone in 1700 BC. She had also found an interesting history of recipes for deviled eggs.
Following her presentation, each member shared church cookbooks they had brought.
A few book briefs were given.
Rachel served delicious refreshments at the close of the meeting.
The club will not meet again until September.
