At a recent Parish Council meeting of the United Church of Crawfordsville it was decided not to hold regular church services at this time, but will continue with online and twice a month have outdoor services at both the United Church of Crawfordsville and the Ainsworth Community Church, weather permitting. This issue will be revisited at the September meeting.
The Crawfordsville Lions Club met Monday, August 24, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. at the Crawfordsville Ball Park with 15 members present.
Lion President Larry Swailes called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance. Lion Nancy Love gave the opening prayer. Minutes from the March 9, 2020 meeting were approved as read. The Treasurer gave his report.
Old Business: The Crawfordsville Lions Club WACO scholarship was awarded to graduating senior Tessa Smith. Lion Jennie Greene's trip to Haiti was canceled due to the pandemic. Lion Nancy Love was endorsed by the club as candidate for District Governor, District 9SE for the year 2021-2022.
New Business: It was moved, seconded and approved to have the Installation Banquet for Lions members only on the regular meeting night of Sept. 14, 2020 at the City Hall Community Room. Lion Billie Jo will ask Alice Hochestler about catering the meal. This will be the club's official visit from the District Governor, Bryon Bross. It was moved, seconded and approved not to have the fall pancake breakfast this year. It was pointed out that the welcome sign at the flagpole needs work. It was noted that the city wants assistance to clean this up. The Lions agreed to help.
