On Saturday, August 29, 2020 the final Lake Darling Saddle Club Horse Show for the season was held in Brighton, IA.
Crawfordsville residents Larry and Tammy Lowe had Zoey Dennler show two of their mini horses during this show. Both horses did well in halter. Zoey used their mini horse named Jet to help her win showmanship and in hand trail. She went on to participate in several riding classes with her horse, Harvey, earning another 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishes. Zoey had a great year with the club and is the daughter of Darren and Karen Dennler of Crawfordsville.
On Sunday evening, April 30, the Crawfordsville Community Club sponsored an Ice Cream Bar Social at the Crawfordsville Fire Station from 4-7 p.m. Dishes of ice cream with various toppings were also available. They were accepting monetary donations and school supplies for the event. Seating was available and also people could drive-thru and pick up what they wanted.
Johnson County Dairy Association furnished the ice cream and the bars were donated by Mike Miller and Roy Felts.
I have been advised that the Crawfordsville American Legion will not hold a Halloween Costume Party this year due to the pandemic.
Carmen Steele of Omaha, NE spent the weekend at home visiting her parents, Doug and Carol Steele and other relatives.
Seven members of the White Cloud Club met in the church parking lot in Crawfordsville for their annual club tour.
They first traveled through Winfield and viewed the sight of the Freedom Rock.
They then were on their way to Danville to visit the Ann Frank Museum. Their host, Janet Kesler told them about two pen pal letters two girls from Danville had received from Ann Frank and her sister. These were the only writings from Ann in English. Everyone found the museum very interesting.
They then ate lunch at the Short Stop in New London. Some enjoyed their tenderloins. They were able to eat at two outside and social distance.
A short business meeting was held to talk about next year's meetings. It was decided to keep everything the same for next year and use this year's books.
The October meeting will be a salad luncheon and Margaret Patterson will be hostess. The meeting closed with three Secret Sister gifts being given.
Making the trip were Jolene Colthurst, Betty Lintz, Pat Miller, Margaret Patterson, Pauline Richardson, Virginia Sands and Shannon Sells.
They then traveled back to Crawfordsville to get their cars and since Jolene was going by the Dairy Mart on her way home they all decided to join her for their afternoon treat.
