United States Postal Service Operation Santa provides a way to help children and families have a magical holiday when they otherwise might not---one letter to Santa at a time.
The Digital Program makes it possible for customers to go online to USPSOperationSanta.Com and adopt actual letters written to Santa. For the first time, the Digital Program is nationwide!
If you, or someone you know, needs some magical assistance from Santa this year, please write a letter. If you are able to provide assistance, please adopt a letter.
Letters to Santa are being accepted through December 15. They are asking for these things when writing a letter: A return address either on the envelope or in the letter or both. Specific needs: For clothes and shoes, there are specific sizes, styles and colors. For toys, games and books, there are names and titles. This isn't required, but it makes it easier for the adopters. They must be addressed correctly and a First-Class stamp is to be on the envelope.
Letters to Santa can be adopted up until December 19 at USPSOperationSanta.com. You may go to the website to look through letters, adopt the ones you want, find the perfect gift and keep it anonymous, wrap and place your gifts in a box using shipping guidelines and postage and take it to the nearest participating Post Office.
Children in the Crawfordsville area are given a chance to win a coloring contest at the Post Office. Postmaster Myrna is running her own coloring contest and color sheets may be picked up and brought back when done and either taped to the wall or given to her. She suggests they be returned as soon as possible and winners will be posted December 22. Three winners will be selected and prizes will be awarded. There is a chance to win a Santa Jar of Candy, a Santa Mug of Cocoa or a Giant Lollipop for the best drawing!
On November 17, nine students from WACO High traveled to Des Moines to participate in the State Dance Contest. They performed in the categories of Jazz and Novelty. Awards were announced on Saturday, December 5. The WACO team received Division 1 ratings in both categories. Members of the team were Morgan Graber, Molly McLaughlin, Amy Moran, Grace Coble, Katie Leichty, Ellah Kissel, Joselyn Fulton, Lydia Hesseltine and Zoey Dennler.
On Sunday, December, four ladies, (Karen Dennler, Sonya Love-Smith, Anna Gillies and Nicole Stoutner) coordinated a community Holiday Scavenger Hunt. The group partnered with Washington County Conservation. There were 20 locations in Washington County that the teams had to find after they were given clues via Facebook messenger. Once they reached a location the team had to take a picture with a team member to get the next clue. Twenty teams played. The winning team finished in two hours and 16 minutes.
All teams enjoyed cookies at the end donated by the Sacha Club. It was a great family activity that allowed families to social distance.
