By Billie Jo Rose
Mar. 1, 2022 2:54 pm
Five members of the Crawfordsville Wednesday Study Club met at the Ainsworth Four Corners Restaurant for a Dutch treat lunch on Wednesday, Feb. 15 hosted by Debbie Lowe.
Following the lunch, Debbie gave a program on "Boxes Full of Memories" from the September 2021 Reminisce Extra magazine about vintage metal lunch boxes. She and others brought their old lunch boxes for show and tell. The reminiscing sparked conversations about personal histories of school lunches and the schools attended, including country and public schools.
Attending were Ruth Erwin, Debbie Lowe, Rachel Koehler, Clarissa Malmberg and Janice Twinam.
The next meeting will be March 16, 2022, with the place to be determined. Janice Twinam will be hostess.
Lions Club
The Crawfordsville Lions Club had a very successful Pancake Supper on Feb. 19 with over 260 in attendance, not counting Lions members and those helping with the event. They were especially thankful to Crooked Creek 4-H members, Peyton Graber, Ally Rinner, Cayten Coakley, Nick and Natalie West and Zach Schmitz and their leaders, Barb Swailes and Pam Davis.
On Monday, Feb. 21, four WACO FFA members traveled to Louisa-Muscatine High School where they competed in Career Development Events.
Zoey Dennler competed in Extemporaneous Speaking and received a Gold rating and will advance to Districts.
Bralyyn Wagler competed in a Competitive Job Interview contest and received a Bronze rating.
Lane Bachman and John McLaughlin competed in the Welding contest and received a Silver rating and are alternates to the District contest.
Congratulations to all these students!
The Crawfordsville Community Club will sponsor a Spaghetti Supper with Dessert on Saturday evening, March 12, 2022 from 4-7 p.m. at the Crawfordsville Fire Station. Dine-in or carry-out. Free-will donation!
