Crawfordsville to host fall cleanup

Crawfordsville will host its annual fall cleanup beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, Oct. 18.

Please have items out by that time. Household debris should be bagged, and there is a 100-pound limit. Wood needs to be bundled, and paint cans should be emptied and dried out.

Items not picked up: Oil, burn barrels, yard waste, any hazardous waste, concrete, brick, plaster and tires.

Appliances will be picked up for a fee. Stickers may be bought from the City Clerk. Any questions, call Carolyn at 319-461-5533.

White Cloud Club

The White Cloud Club met for lunch and their monthly meeting at the Pizza Ranch in Washington on Tuesday, Oct. 5 with seven members and two guests present.

Following a buffet lunch, President Pauline Richardson opened the meeting with a reading, "Autumn Wonderland." Roll call was answered by each member guessing their "Mystery Sister" and opening a gift from that person. Also, two birthday gifts were opened for recent birthdays.

Minutes of the last two meetings were approved as read. A fun photo was shared from the September club tour to Burlington. The treasurer's report was given and no bills were presented.

As no Old Business was brought forward, Pauline led the voting for the 2021-22 officers, as part of the New Business. President: Jolene Colthurst; Vice-President: Pat Miller; Secretary/Treasurer: Betty Lintz; Reporter: Margaret Patterson; Assist. Reporter: Pauline Richardson.

Committees: Cards, Flowers and Gifts: Pauline Richardson; Club Tour: Pat Miller; Annual Fall Potluck: Virginia Sands and Carrie Coble. In addition to New Business, members signed up for hostessing meetings during the coming year. New Mystery Sister names were drawn for the upcoming year. Betty Lintz agreed to again organize and print the club booklets. Club dues for 2021-22 were collected from those present.

Attending were: Jolene Colthurst, Frieda Finke, Joyce Huff, Betty Lintz, Pat Miller, Margaret Patterson and Pauline Richardson. Two guests, Phil and Barb Deets also attended.

White Cloud Club will be celebrating their 82nd year beginning at the next meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 2. The group will meet again for lunch at the Pizza Ranch in Washington and Pauline will be hostess.
