Crawfordsville to host Halloween costume contest

The Crawfordsville Community will hold a Halloween costume contest on Tuesday, Oct. 31 at 5:30 p.m. at the Crawfordsville Fire Station., with city wide trick or treat to follow.
Donuts will be provided by the American Legion Post #593. Prizes will be donated by Washington State Bank and Goody Bags will be provided by Peoples Savings Bank. Milk and coffee will be served as well.
The classes for judging will be: Infant, Toddler, Pre-K, and grades K thru 6 and an Open Class and a Family Class.
WHITE CLOUD CLUB
Five members of the White Cloud Club and one new member met at The Choice Family Restaurant in Wayland for lunch at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday. October 3, 2023. This was the club's last meeting of this year as their new year starts in November. Present were Betty Lintz, Pat Miller, Margaret Patterson, Pauline Richardson, Virginia Sands and new member, Diane Johnston.
Pat opened the meeting with sayings you see on restaurant billboards. Roll call was answered by guessing your Secret Sister and receiving a token gift.
Betty gave the Secretary's and Treasurer's report. One due was collected for the new year.
Ballots were distributed for election of new officers. Following three tries, new officers were elected. President: Betty Lintz; Vice President: Margaret Patterson; Secretary-Treasurer: Pat Miller; Reporter: Jolene Colthurst and Assistant Reporter: Virginia Sands.
Jolene Colthurst and Margaret Patterson provided treats for the group.
Old Business: None.
Next meeting will be November 7, 2023 at The Choice Family Restaurant in Wayland with Pauline as hostess.
USA/CANADA LEADERSHIP FORUM
On September 18 Past Council Chair Lion Nancy Oehler Love, along with her travel companion 1st Vice-District Governor Chris Waring from the Independence, IA Lions Club left from the Mt. Pleasant Amtrak station for a two day journey bound for Reno, NV to attend the USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forum.
The Forum, which was held from September 21-23 offered some 80 courses in leadership and Lionism, including "Everything You Wanted to Know About
Social Media, But Were Afraid to Ask". " The Only Constant is Change---Learning How to Thrive." Phishing, Cyber Attacks and Scams, and Meetings, Bloody Meetings."
Other activities included the traditional Stride Walk for Diabetes Awareness and a service project dealing with another of Lions focus areas, the environment. Inspirational speakers and evening banquets completed the event.
