Crawfordsville Wednesday Study Club meets

Six members of the Crawfordsville Wednesday Study Club met at the home of Ruth Erwin at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. Present with Rachel Koehler, Debbie Lowe, Pauline Richardson, Joyce Roth, Janice Twinam and the hostess, Ruth.

Debbie reported that she had ordered the book Wildflowers of Iowa Woodlands by Sylvan T. Runkel and Alvin F. Bull to be placed in the Winfield, Iowa Public Library in memory of Marilyn Rees, a member who passed away earlier this year.

Ruth told about four books: one each about the Civil War, WWI and WWII and one about the Spanish Flu of 1918. She then shared letters she had from her father written when he served in World War I. She also had the small New Testament Bible he carried. Everyone reminisced about family members serving in various wars.

Other book briefs were given.

Members then gathered around the table for fellowship where Ruth served a delicious dessert.

The next meeting will be May 15, 2024 hosted by Joyce Roth.

HELP NEEDED at CROOKED CREEK CHRISTIAN CAMP

As summer approaches, the camp is still without a Food Service Manager. They have a full calendar of guests at the Retreat Lodge. That means they need whoever can help. Gather your friends, Sunday School Class, any of your friends, as well as anyone you know to come cook for a weekend. Menus, recipes and food will all be provided. All you need to do is prepare and serve it to the thankful guest groups (without whom we wouldn't be able to offer Summer Camp.

REMINDER: Parents of children interested in going to any Christian Camp remember the

United Church of Crawfordsville and the United Church Women of the United Church of Crawfordsville each pay 1/3 of the cost for a camp scholarship.
