COMMISSIONING SERVICE
On November 5, 2024, Pastor Jason Collier was commissioned as a Presbyterian Commissioned Ruling Elder. This occasion was the result of nine months of hard work by Jason and the Presbytery. When the Ainsworth and Crawfordsville churches left the United Methodist Church in November of last year, Pastor Jason, a local licensed pastor for 12 years, found himself needing to become Presbyterian. This is because the churches automatically transitioned to Presbyterian upon their departure from the United Methodist Church.
After receiving credit for many classes he had already completed, Pastor Jason was required to take two additional classes over the summer. Upon finishing these classes and receiving a vote of approval from the Presbytery in October, the only remaining step was the commissioning service on November 5th.
The service was well attended at the United Church of Crawfordsville, with over fifty people coming to worship and share lunch. Among those present were multiple Presbyterian teaching elders, several ruling elders and eight local pastors from various denominations. Pastor Jason's family was also in attendance, as well as members from both congregations.
