The Creative Living department of Fortnightly met April 23 at the United Presbyterian Home dining room. The hostess was Pauline Jarrard. Co-hostess Jane Fehr was absent. The tables were decorated in a timely theme, and delicious refreshments were enjoyed.
Guest speaker was Marty Beenblossom of Jones Funeral Home in Washington. He gave a very informative program, starting with the early history of the funeral home, telling about original owners, and updating to the home?s present status. He is now the owner/operator. An informative explanation was given as to the procedures taken with families at their time of need, making the process as caring and personal as possible. An open discussion was held, with members asking questions, and Marty took time to answer all of the inquiries they had. The consensus of the group was that some of Washington?s finest residents have been members of the Beenblossom family, and that Marty certainly is carrying on the tradition.
President Joleen Krotz called the business meeting to order, with Esther Bordwell reading the inspiration for the day. Sharon Niffenegger read the minutes from the last meeting and gave the treasurer?s report. Roll call was answered by those present. Sonja Campbell passed the sheet for signup for the next year?s hostesses, co-hostesses, and program ideas to be used for the year.
The May breakfast will be at 9 a.m., May 13 in the Timmins Dining Room at Halcyon House in Washington. Tickets were available at the meeting. The executive board will meet at 9:30 a.m., May 6, at the Washington Public Library.
