Washington County sixth - to eighth-grade 4-H?ers are invited to attend 4-H Crop Science STEM day trip on March 24. 4-H?ers will see some behind-the-scene science involved at Monsanto Seed in Muscatine while also getting to do some hands-on experiments related to the advancement of crops around the world. The group will also visit Mairet Farms to see their greenhouse technology and learn how this local ag business was started by a 4-H/ISU alum. Mairet Farms produce local foods and flowers for southeast Iowa market.
Des Moines, Lee, Louisa, Jefferson and Henry County 4-H?ers will also attend this trip, so it?s a perfect time to make new 4-H friends interested in crop science.
Space is limited and registrations will be accepted first come, first serve. Registration forms are avai lable at the Washington County Extension Office or found online at http://www.extension.iastate.edu/washington. Registration and $20 payment are due by March 10 to the Washington County Extension office. This fee will cover transportation, insurance, meals, snacks and a 4-H bag. Washington County youth will travel together. The complete day will run tentatively from 8 a.m. ? 5 p.m.
Chaperones may be needed. Please contact Amy if you are interested in this opportunity to work with 4-H youth and crop sciences.
