Washington Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution is sponsoring a genealogy workshop for anyone interested in how to get started researching and learning about their family ancestry.
The workshop will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2019, from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. It will be held in the Washington Public Library in the Nicola Room. Feel free to bring laptops or other mobile devices.
This is a free event open to the public. Any women interested in joining DAR are encouraged to attend.
Carolyn DeLay, Iowa State Chairman of the Lineage Research Committee, will be the presenter of the program.
The Washington Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution was founded on Nov. 13, 1906. Any woman 18 years or older may join the DAR by documenting her lineage to an ancestor, either male or female, who aided the cause of American independence through military, civil or patriotic service.
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, founded in 1890, is a nonprofit nonpolitical volunteer service organization dedicated to promoting historic preservation, education and patriotism. Headquarters are in Washington DC. There are chapters all over the United States and in several foreign countries.
