Daughters of the American Revolution
The Washington Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution met Saturday, May 17, 2014, at 9:30 a.m. at the home of Julie Mangold. Nine members attended the brunch preceding the regular meeting.

The Washington Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution met Saturday, May 17, 2014, at 9:30 a.m. at the home of Julie Mangold. Nine members attended the brunch preceding the regular meeting.
Julie Beenblossom has become the local DAR temporary historian. Julie will also serve as registrar.
Marj Lins, Alexander Young Cabin Committee member, reported the vandalism of the north-facing windowpanes is being repaired. Regent Mangold and Marj Lins met Saturday, May 10, at the cabin, with a curator from the Putnam Museum in Davenport to evaluate the cabin contents for appropriateness to the time period. An interesting discussion was held regarding the authenticity of various items.
Good Citizen chairperson Joan Johnston announced Arissa Lynn Marine of the Mid-Prairie Community Schools as the local winner, and Julie Mangold planned to present her award at the Mid-Prairie awards ceremony.
Members volunteered to be hostesses at the cabin during Washington?s 175th anniversary celebration. Rosemary Harris will arrange a display in the center window of The Village boutique commemorating the life of Ola Babcock Miller.
Members will meet at 9 a.m., Wednesday, May 28, at the cabin for spring cleaning.
Julie presented past regent Julie Beenblossom a certificate from the state office, congratulating her for her dedication as flag chairman. Regent Mangold also received a certificate for her promptness in handling the regent duties.
Denise Preston of the program committee asked members to update information in the program book and asked for program ideas. Regent Mangold adjourned the meeting. The next meeting will be at 1:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 8, 2014.
