Dedication ceremony for newest Habitat home planned Sunday
N/A
Jul. 18, 2019 1:46 pm
Greater Fairfield Area Habitat for Humanity will have a dedication of its newest home at 2 p.m. Sunday at the home, 307 E. Jefferson Ave.
The public is invited and will be able to tour the home following the dedication.
The home is the third constructed in partnership with Fairfield High School. The students in FHS's construction technology class constructed most of the home along with assistance from their instructor Shawn Peck, local contractors, the prospective homeowners Chad and Madeline Starling and Habitat volunteers.
Habitat for Humanity partners with families to provide simple and decent housing. All partner families are required to contribute 'sweat equity” toward their home by working on such things as construction of the home, completing required trainings and volunteering at local nonprofits. Habitat homeowners make monthly payments on a no-interest mortgage, which in turn will go toward building more Habitat homes.
