POST 2271 AUXILIARY
The Ladies Auxiliary to Dimmitt-Vorhies Post 2271 met Nov. 14 at the post home, with nine members present.
Members were thanked for helping with Veterans Day ceremonies and the funeral lunches at the club.
Auxiliary sisters were reminded to pay their dues before Dec. 1.
The next meeting will be Dec. 12, with a potluck starting about 5:15 p.m. Sisters are asked to ...

The next meeting will be Dec. 12, with a potluck starting about 5:15 p.m. Sisters are asked to bring donations for the Lord?s Cupboard.
A Christmas package will be mailed to a deployed soldier this month.
The General Orders asked members to contact their representatives about future cuts to veterans? benefits.

AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY
Members of American Legion Auxiliary 47 held their last 2011 meeting recently at the home of member Rita VanDerSnick.
Cards have been sent to Alyce Kessel, who is recovering from a fall, and to Shirley Kitch, who is recovering from a broken hip.
A thank-you letter was received from Honor Tour for a donation. Coupons have been mailed by Rita VanDerSnick for use of veterans who are stationed in other countries; the coupons are accepted in commissaries up to six months expired.
A $25 donation was given to Mary Andersen to assist with expenses to attend a National Girls State Conference in October. The Fairfield American Legion Auxiliary plans to send a Fairfield High School junior to Girls State again in 2012. Rachel Swanson, the 2010 Girls State attendee from Fairfield, received special recognition from Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad for academic achievement.
Darlene Vorhies distributed cards of appreciation to local Poppy Day volunteers from Iowa American Legion Auxiliary. One thousand poppies have been ordered for next year.
Vorhies also read a special poem entitled ?The Final Inspection? and read a list of official 2012 flag-flying days.
The next meeting will be Jan. 18.
