MOUNT PLEASANT ? A baked potato dinner will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant. The dinner is a fundraiser for a group of Iowa Wesleyan College students taking part in a service project in Rwanda, Africa, next spring.
According to trip organizer Alisha Vincent, 12 students and three faculty members will travel to Rwanda May 18. While there, students will learn about the culture of the country, distribute water filtration systems, work at an orphanage and volunteer with medical assistance teams.
Rwanda is one of the poorest countries in the world, with the highest population density of any country in Africa.
Free will donations will be accepted for the dinner.
