The Washington County Conservation Board?s Ice Fishing Clinic has been scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 30. This clinic will be at Thomas Marr Lake at Marr Park beginning at 1 p.m. Participants should meet in the Conservation Center.
This fun family event will feature a relatively warm shelter and pre-drilled holes. The staff will do its best to help you catch fish from a 5-inch hole in the ice and teach you some tips and tricks for this winter sport. They will also have on hand an underwater camera for you to see the fish in action. While waiting your turn with the camera, warm up in the Conservation Center with some hot cocoa, view the 180-gallon native fish aquarium, and participate in other fun fish activities.
Participants are welcome to bring their own gear.
Anyone 16 or older is required to have a fishing license.
Marr Park is located one mile west of Ainsworth and six miles east of Washington on Highway 92. Thomas Marr Lake is located at the far south end of the park.
For more information, contact the Conservation Education Center at 319-657-2400 or wccb@iowatelecom.net. Call ahead to check on ice thickness and quality.
