BONAPARTE ? Vintage bride dolls dressed in 1860s period costume will be sold by silent auction Saturday and Sunday during the Bonaparte Autumn Fest held in conjunction with the Scenic Drive in Bonaparte?s Opera House Community Room.
Displayed in Waterfront Place during the Civil War Experience weekend, outfits were designed and created by southeast Iowa women. Favorites were voted upon by quarters which brought in $180 that was donated to Bonaparte Main Street.
Sponsored by Gianna and Roy Barrow, the first-place doll, designed by Isabel Neeley, was presented to her while the other 19 dolls will be auctioned in the Opera House Community Room.
Informational and bidding sheets along with each doll will be available for bids throughout the weekend. Bidding will end at 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
Winning bidders will need to be present or make advance arrangements to pay for and pick up their doll.
All proceeds will be donated to Bonaparte Main Street for the 2012 Civil War Experience.
For more information about the auction, contact Gianna Barrow at 319-592-3580.
