Planning is under way for this year?s Chocolate Sunday to be held from 2-4 p.m. Dec. 2 at Fairfield Middle School.
?This is always such a fun way to support the drama, instrumental and vocal music departments,? said Sue Hucke, one of the event organizers. ?Guests can nibble on chocolate throughout the afternoon ? as well as other goodies ? while being entertained by our wonderfully talented high schoolers. There will also be dozens of gift baskets to browse and bid on.?
Event organizers will be contacting local businesses for donations to comprise the various ?themed? baskets. Last year, the event featured more than 140 baskets for participants to peruse and bid on.
?We have baskets priced at all different levels, with themes to fit everyone?s interests,? said Hucke. ?We?re very grateful to the businesses, families and individuals who contribute items or funds to help build our baskets. Everyone is always so willing to give.?
In addition to the many baskets available for silent auction, a quilt will be the featured raffle item this year. Raffle tickets will be on sale at various school functions during the next few weeks, including the last home football game Friday, and at the productions of the FHS fall play, ?The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940? on Oct. 26, 27 and 28. They also can be purchased at Chocolate Sunday. Tickets cost $2 apiece, $5 for three or $10 for eight.
To find out about donating items for Chocolate Sunday, to volunteer to help with event planning and preparation or to purchase raffle tickets, contact Hucke at 469-6607.
