Donna F. (Woodard) Kennedy, 87, of Mesa, AZ and formerly of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Wednesday, July 24 in Mesa.
Services will be 10:30 AM on Friday, Aug. 2nd at the First United Methodist Church, 309 N. Main St., Mt. Pleasant with pastors of the church officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery. Friends may call from 12-3 PM on Thursday at the Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 N. Main St., Mt. Pleasant. Visitation with the family present will continue from 5-7 PM on Thursday at the church.

Mrs. Kennedy, the former Donna Fay Woodard, was born August 6, 1931 in Hale, MO. She was the daughter of Lester Gilbert "Bill" and Effie Mae (Boley) Woodard. As a young, child, she moved with her family to Mt. Pleasant where she attended school. She married Ralph Bruggemeyer on January 3, 1949. On May 22, 1971, Donna was united in marriage to Al William Kennedy.
Donna was a homemaker, mother to her children and assisted in running the family farm. She was a receptionist in the optometry office of Drs. Deal and Rupp. Donna worked as a bookkeeper for T.H.E. Company, from which she retired in the 1990's. Donna and Al began wintering in Arizona in retirement before moving to reside there permanently.
Donna attended St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and later St. Michael's Episcopal Church. She was formerly a member of the South Center Club. Donna's greatest joy was to spend time with her grandkids and supporting them in all their events.
Donna is survived by her husband Al; 3 of her children and their spouses – Sue (Jerry) Smith, Cindy (Keith) Dorothy and Barb (Dean) Hamilton, all of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter-in-law, Edee Bruggemeyer Weigert; 3 stepsons – Devon, Terry & Jay Kennedy; a stepdaughter - Cyndee Ezzell; 12 grandchildren – Michelle Skubal, Jason Miller, Eric De Kraai, Jesse Miller, Sarah Jacobs, Amy DeHart, Matthew Henkel, Aaron Dorothy, Elizabeth Coleman, Rachel Dorothy, Corey Hamilton and Molly Hamilton; and 29 great grandchildren.
Donna is preceded in death by her parents, 1 son – Ted Bruggemeyer; 2 daughters – Becky Benz and Radonna Bruggemeyer; 2 bothers – Billie & Howard Woodard, 5 sisters – Ruby Smith, Audrey Doty, Nita Tyner, Ann Lee "Short" Thompson and Margaret Lynn Woodard; 1 grandson – Chad Hamilton and 1 great grandchild.
