AMES – The Iowa Department of Transportation will hold a public information meeting Tuesday, Aug. 27, to discuss proposed improvements to U.S. 34 in Ottumwa.
The Iowa D.O.T. and City of Ottumwa have partnered to review traffic operations, safety, and future corridor goals for approximately 2.5 miles of U.S. 34 from Wildwood Drive to just east of the Vine Street interchange with U.S. 63. The purpose of this meeting is to update residents and stakeholders on concepts being developed to improve the corridor, environmental constraints along the corridor, safety and operational concerns, and obtain public feedback regarding corridor improvement options.
All interested persons are invited to attend this meeting anytime between 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Bridge View Center in Ottumwa. The meeting will be conducted using an open forum format. Iowa D.O.T. staff will be present to informally discuss the proposed improvements. No formal presentation will be made. Feedback received at this meeting will be used to evaluate intersection/interchange/roadway improvement options and develop recommendations for short and long-term U.S. 34 corridor alternatives.
For general information regarding the proposed improvements or public meeting, contact Hector Torres-Cacho, transportation planner, Iowa D.O.T. District 5 Office, 647-472-4171 or 800-766-4368, email hector.torres-cacho@iowadot.us.
