David Horsey of Washington spoke to the Washington County Genealogical Society and community members about the year 1939 in the city of Washington. Above is one of the display boards he shared with an audience in the Washington Public Library on Tuesday, April 1.
On this board are pictures of the four elementary school buildings in Washington prior to the building of the new Lincoln School and Stewart School. Both buildings were being worked on in 1939. The four schools were Wallace, Centennial, Heights and Lincoln.
The city celebrated its Centennial in 1939.
There will be more information about Horsey?s presentation in The Journal next week.
