The Washington Public Library is pleased to announce that all of downtown Washington now has access to the library?s wireless signal. As part of the heart of Washington, the library has chosen to offer wireless access in Washington?s Central Park to help strengthen community events in the historic downtown district. The library also provides wireless Internet access to give access to its digital collection, even when the physical library is closed. The Downtown Wireless Project was funded through a mini grant from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation.
Wireless users should note that the free service is an open network and is not inherently secure. Access is provided as available, and the library can provide no guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Users are liable for any infringement on the copyright law of the US.
