Dr. Van Allen’s birthday celebrated

Two to three dozen people enjoyed the afternoon of Saturday, Sept. 6 celebrating what would have been Dr. James Van Allen's 111th birthday!
Sue Loescher and Rosemary Peck organized the afternoon of activities. Kids and parents came early, played games, made and ate ice cream and cake. Making ice cream in a bag was the hit of the day!
Most adults came later (post the Iowa-ISU FB game!), toured the Heritage Center Museum and the Van Allen House — and ate ice cream and cake. David Van Allen and his sister Marti Van Allen were in attendance and helped with tours of their grandparents' home. It was a good day!
