Dr. William E. ?Bill? Ehling, 85, of Streator, died Tuesday Nov. 24, 2015, at Heritage Health and Rehabilitation in Streator, Ill.
A celebration of life will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday Dec. 5, 2015, at the Park Presbyterian Church, in Streator, Ill. Rev. Betty Weidert will officiate. A visitation will be held from 8 to 10:15 a.m., Saturday at the church. The Elias Funeral home is assisting the family with the ...

Dr. William E. ?Bill? Ehling, 85, of Streator, died Tuesday Nov. 24, 2015, at Heritage Health and Rehabilitation in Streator, Ill.
A celebration of life will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday Dec. 5, 2015, at the Park Presbyterian Church, in Streator, Ill. Rev. Betty Weidert will officiate. A visitation will be held from 8 to 10:15 a.m., Saturday at the church. The Elias Funeral home is assisting the family with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Park Presbyterian Church, Streator Elks Club, American Cancer Society, and to a scholarship being established in Dr. Ehling?s name at Streator Township High School.

Ehling was born March 4, 1920, in Chicago, Ill., he was the son of William H. and Pearl (Schuenemann) Ehling. He married Elsie Ellinger on Dec. 26, 1953.
Ehling graduated from the University of Illinois School of Medicine in 1954. He served as a physician in the United States Navy. After his discharge, he established a family practice in Streator, Ill., where he cared for friends and neighbors for 42 years. He served on the St. Mary?s Hospital Board for 12 years. He was Chief of Staff as well as president of the LaSalle County Medical Society.
Ehling was a member of Park Presbyterian Church. In his spare time, Ehling was an avid golfer. He enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling.
Ehling is survived by his wife Elsie, of Streator, Ill.; three daughters Barbara Ehling, of Streator, Ill.; Patricia (Robert) Bensmiller, of Mt. Pleasant; Lynn (Mark Sliker) Bedeker, of Streator, Ill.; five grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
