Patrick Morton?s life will be remembered at the third annual Piling Up Patrick?s Power Wagon Party at 6 p.m. July 30 at Fairfield Elks Lodge.
The event, held each year near Patrick?s July 31 birthday, is a donation drive for Camp Courageous in Monticello.
Meat will be provided by Bubba-Q?s BBQ. Double D Karaoke and DJ will provide entertainment. Those attending are asked to bring a side dish to share in addition to a donation for camp.
In 2009 and 2010, donations from Patrick?s friends and family were the largest non-business donations the camp received.
Camp Courageous provides a unique experience for any individual with a disability. The camp, which Patrick attended from age 3 to 13, serves more than 5,000 campers annually and is run solely on donations.
A list of items needed at camp can be found at www.campcourageous.org. Commonly needed items include: food, paper goods, new white T-shirts, all-season sleeping bags, wet wipes, laundry detergent, and white or bright-colored paper. Also, specific medical items and cash donations to help purchase larger items are accepted, as is any information for obtaining needed items at a reduced price.
If interested in donating to Camp Courageous but unable to attend Patrick?s party, items may be dropped off by July 29 at one of the following locations: Edward Jones, 205 North B St.; Southeast Iowa Case Management, 101 N. 16th St.; and Prairie View United Methodist Church, 27131 Highway 78, Ollie.
For information about donating, contact the Morton family at morton@iowatelecom.net or 472-1524.
