Earth Friends in Fairfield will host a Zoom chat Saturday about microbe-friendly gardening.
The event will last from 1:30-3 p.m. and will be hosted by Faith Reeves.
The program will be a '101 introduction” to the concepts with an opportunity to dive deeper in a microbe-friendly gardening virtual workshop series.
Topics that will be covered:
-Where to start.
-Assessing our gardens baseline health.
-Seed selection and how to treat seeds.
-Soil health priming.
-Plant health and plant nutrition.
-The importance of diversity above and below the soil.
-Cover crops, foliar nutrition, inoculants and educational resources.
Two short articles ('The Path to Carbon-Positive Landscaping” and 'Your Backyard's Potential for Mitigating Climate Change”) have been provided as pre-reading for this chat. Advance registration at the Fairfield Public Library allows library staff to email scanned copies of the magazine articles or deliver free printed copies to your curbside vehicle.
