FAIRFIELD – Fairfield resident and prolific pianist/composer Werner Elmker will take his audience on a 'healing and deeply nourishing inner journey” during his solo piano concert Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center.
Over the years, Elmker has garnered quite a following in Fairfield with his refined musical touch and hallmark improvisational flair. Increasingly known in recent years for his magical photos and videos of Fairfield life and nature, Elmker is also able to create magic on the piano with his unique sound and deep feeling.
One concertgoer commented, 'Your sound has a special quality of silence, no matter how loud or soft you are playing. It is cumulative. The silence gets deeper and deeper, and I notice the whole audience sinks into it together, so that by the end, no one can move or speak. The silence is so tangible, you can cut it with a knife!”
Werner Elmker moved to Iowa in 1985 and has performed extensively for the local community in Fairfield, as well as in other areas of the U.S. and Europe. He holds a doctoral level degree in piano performance from the Royal Danish Music Conservatory. Werner emphasizes the importance of improvisation and being in the moment as the main source of creativity and great music.
