Continuing the yearlong celebration of 125 years, Trenton United Methodist Church hosts Nearly Elvis, starring Ron Semler, at 7 p.m. July 28, for a concert of the King's gospel and popular hits.
Ron Semler is the seventh generation of a family of musicians playing, composing, singing, and performing for the public. He grew up on a farm near Kalona, and was active in church and school music. Church friends kept telling him he sounded like Elvis when he sang. He performed as Elvis for the 1998 Miss South Dakota-USA Beauty Pageant, and has performed in Chicago, Las Vegas (Elvis Alive Show, lead singer for over two years), Branson, Atlanta, Minneapolis, as well as around Iowa. KV Associates has voted him the No. 1 Elvis entertainer in America. Career highlights include a performance at Mount Rushmore, and a live performance with the recording group The Drifters.
Nearly Elvis will be presented at Trenton, Sunday, July 28. The congregation will serve a free supper at 5:30 p.m. before the show at 7 p.m. The facility in Trenton is fully accessible, and all are welcome. A free-will offering will be accepted for the 7 p.m. show.
Ron's vocals will be echoing in the heads and hearts of concertgoers long after the performance is over!
