Enter state fair?s decorated egg contest

URBANDALE ? Now?s your chance to show off your ?eggs-traordinary? artistic ability and win up to $500 as the Iowa Egg Council will again hold its annual egg decorating contest during the Iowa State Fair.

Everyone is welcome to enter.

Contest rules require that you use a standard large-size chicken egg. There are no limitations on how you decorate your egg, so get creative. Your design can take on many styles of craftsmanship, including intricate beadwork, painting, etching, carving or any other fanciful creation.

To enter, request an entry form and complete list of rules by calling the Iowa Egg Council at 877-469-2344 ext. 45 or by accessing the website at www.iowaegg.org.

The entries will be judged starting at 11 a.m. Aug. 10 at the fair in the Agriculture Building.

First prize is $500, second prize is $400 and third prize is $300.

After the fair, these unique works of art will make up a traveling egg art display where the hand-decorated eggs will be showcased at local libraries across the state.
