The Fairfield Art Association's upcoming Membership Exhibit will have up to 25 artworks selected to travel the state of Iowa.
Aall adult artists in the area are invited to participate by creating an original art work on a 16- by 16-inch canvas from the Fairfield Art Association in any permanent medium or mixed media. Requirements include following guidelines and being a current FAA member. Artists can become a member when they pick up a canvas at the FAA Studio in the Fairfield Arts & Conventinon Center any weekday from 1-5 p.m. beginning Friday, Sept. 6.
Show and membership information also is at www.fairfieldartassociation.org after Friday.
Art must be turned in on or before Jan. 3. Artwork must be for sale, and labeled on the back. Each artist has the choice of their entry being available for the traveling show. An entry fee for the Membership Exhibit is charged.
The Membership Exhibit will open Jan. 10, in the Main Gallery at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center.
'This will be a first, with the FAA's 54th annual member exhibit having up to 25 of the finest artists selected to represent the Fairfield area in a Traveling Exhibit,” said Suzan Kessel, FAA volunteer director. 'Judge and artist, John Bybee has been secured to juror the entire show after it is installed, and along with choosing the pieces for the traveling exhibit, will pick four top entries for cash awards.”
The traveling art pieces will be selected in January and announced in February during a FAA Awards event, with a critique of artwork by judge Bybee.
In addition, the public will be invited to vote for their 'Favorite Art Work” all of January, with the winning artist receiving two tickets to an FACC Artist Series theater performance of their choice.
The Fairfield exhibit will close the end of February.
The Traveling Exhibit is being booked throughout the state of Iowa in galleries, museums and institutions, with anticipation of touring for up to three years.
The Fairfield Convention and Visitor's Bureau is sponsoring this event in part with a CVB grant.
