The Fairfield Art Association is announcing a new exhibit "Everyday Geometry," a group exhibit curated by Harriet Burbeck, opening on Friday, July 5, in the Hallway Gallery in the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center. A reception will be held that day from 6-8 p.m.
Harriet Burbeck grew up in Fairfield, and recently returned to town, having lived in New Orleans for most of the past two decades. She is a new addition to the FAA Board and is an experienced exhibit curator and artist. She teaches fine art and graphic design at Indian Hills Community College, and is co-coordinator of the Indian Hills art gallery.
The group of artists who have been asked to submit artwork includes Suzan Kessel, Jennifer Sammons, Harriet Burbeck, John Schirmer, Katie Bell, John Preston, Allison Honeycutt, Aleya Horlein, Elsie Smith, Steve Prettyman, and Judy Bales. The work these artists have created for this show emphasizes the geometric aspects of the world around us. In their paintings, photographs, and mixed media works, shape, color, and texture take center stage and the line between representational and abstract imagery becomes blurred.
