Artwork by Fairfield resident John Schirmer is on display in the Fairfield Art Association hallway gallery by the FAA studio in the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center. The artwork was unveiled during the June First Fridays Art Walk, and will remain up through the end of July. It can be viewed during business hours Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Schirmer has been a working artist for 40-plus years specializing in wood block prints.
"Oil paintings have always fascinated me, and I have been working on different styles and subjects for many years,“ Schirmer said. ”Upon visiting New York City to visit my daughter, I saw interesting compositions at every turn, and it has been my joy to try to reveal the feeling of the moment through the use of color and form. The craft of oil painting has been a wonderful challenge for me, and has been well received."
