Fairfield's free fall brush pick up will start at 7 a.m. Monday; city crews will make one trip through town to pick up brush and limbs.
All burnable and chippable material should be put in a neat pile on the curb adjacent to the street. Brush and limbs must be placed away from poles, fences and water shut-offs. If any damage occurs due to brush being placed over water shut-offs, the city will not be responsible.
The piles also must not interfere with traffic.
The pick up service is for residences only; the city crews will not pick up from businesses.
No brush or limbs bigger than 24 inches in diameter or 13 feet in length will be picked up.
The brush pick up does not include leaves or yard waste, like grass clippings. These items will be picked up on the same day as regular trash pick up if they are in lawn bags and have a Waste Management sticker attached. Stickers are available for purchase at Fairfield City Hall. The bags need to be placed on the curb 3 feet away from household trash.
Fairfield residents can haul their own brush, limbs and yard clippings to the city's compost site at 20th Street and Jackson Avenue. Signs are posted at designated areas for specific types of yard waste, and people are asked to compost accordingly. The site is not for use by contractors.
Residents are welcome to load free mulch/compost at the site and can contact the city maintenance shed at 472-4750 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday to make an appointment for a city employee to use a loader to load pickups or dump trucks.
