Fairfield Cultural Alliance offers mini-grants
Aug. 18, 2021 1:09 am
The Fairfield Cultural Alliance was formed in 2005 to create and then administer the state certified Cultural District in Fairfield. Fairfield’s Cultural District has been designated around the town square and includes many of the historic buildings, shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues, that residents have loved for decades.
In July of 2018, Fairfield was re-designated as an Iowa Cultural & Entertainment District by the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs for another 10 years.
It is now time to apply for the Cultural Trust Fund Mini Grants, offered annually by Fairfield Cultural Alliance. Every year, the Fairfield Cultural Alliance (FCA) promotes the arts and culture in the community by offering mini-grants to individuals and organizations whose historic, artistic or musical contributions have been recognized for supporting creative projects. These small grants will be awarded to individuals and organizations.
Mini-grant applications will be reviewed on the following criteria:
• Art, culture, civic and educational value for Jefferson County.
.• The impact of the project on cultural tourism in Jefferson County.
• Past grants to your organization.
• Grants from the Cultural Trust Fund may be used for project design, programming and operation.
• Preference may be given to events/programs within the state-designated Cultural District.
Further information and application forms are available for download at www.fairfieldculturaldistrict.org/news.htm through Sept. 13. Contact Shanaz Krieder for more information at 641-233-8112 or shanazr@earthlink.net. Organizations with 501(c)(3) status can either apply themselves or sponsor other individuals and organizations with ongoing or new projects.
The recipients will be announced and grants then awarded at a ceremony Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. in Fairfield’s Central Park. Watch the Fairfield Cultural Alliance social media page and website, http://www.fairfieldculturaldistrict.org/, for more information leading up to the event.
