It has already been a full year for our Fairfield FFA members. As part of the National FFA Organization, our chapter focuses on developing leadership, building career skills, and giving students meaningful, hands on experiences in agriculture. This year, members have competed in a variety of contests, building confidence in public speaking, technical knowledge, and teamwork while proudly representing our school and community.
One of the highlights of the year was attending National FFA Convention. Seeing thousands of blue jackets in one place is always powerful. Our students attended leadership workshops, listened to inspiring speakers, and explored career opportunities within the agriculture industry. It is an experience that helps them see the bigger picture and recognize the many doors agriculture can open.
Our greenhouse season is just around the corner and will run from March through late May or early June. During that time, students gain real world experience in plant science, sales, customer service, and business management. It is a fast paced few months, but it gives students an opportunity to take ownership and see their hard work come to life.
We are also in the planning stages of our 2nd Annual Ag Day, where we will welcome younger students and community members to learn more about agriculture through interactive activities and demonstrations. FFA Week is coming up as well, and we have several activities planned to celebrate agricultural education. We will wrap up the 2nd trimester and close out the week with our annual pancake breakfast on Friday, February 28th. We will be serving pancakes, sausage, and eggs and would love to see the community come out and support our students.
If you have any questions about our program or would like to schedule a tour of the greenhouse, please reach out to Elly Stremsterfer. We are always happy to share what our students are learning and building through agricultural education.
