Fairfield filmmakers win at 'Iowa Oscars'

Seven filmmakers from Fairfield received a total of 10 awards at the 20th annual Iowa Motion Picture Association Awards on Saturday in Des Moines.
The Iowa Motion Picture Association recognizes Iowa?s film and video production community for its achievements in using the moving image as a means to communicate, educate and entertain. The IMPA honors nominees at two levels of recognition within each category ? the Award of Achievement and the Award of Excellence, the top level of recognition.
Director Luke Stenger received an Award of Excellence in the Entertainment Long category for the film ?Stomping Grounds.? In addition, actor David Patterson received an Award of Excellence in the Supporting Actor category for his role in the short film ?Drama in Sector Z,? while Savannah Quinn took home an Award of Excellence in Art Direction for the short film ?The Lost Calendar.?
The following individuals received the Award of Achievement: producers Donald Revolinski and Luke Stenger for the film ?Stomping Grounds,? writer Lívia Cole for the produced screenplay ?The Lost Calendar,? director Burt Chojnowski for the documentary ?Kora,? actor Jesse Bailey for his performance in ?Stomping Grounds,? and actress Savannah Quinn for her roles in ?The Lost Calendar? and ?Drama in Sector Z.?
For years, Fairfield filmmakers have received awards at the IMPA and other film festivals such as the Cedar Rapids Independent Film Festival and the Wild Rose Film Festival in Des Moines.
?We?re fortunate to have such an active production community in Iowa ? with a high level of work being created from all areas of the state,? said Dave Danielson, IMPA program director. ?Fairfield has steadily built a reputation for creativity and quality. Year after year, the Fairfield area produces some of the freshest, most intriguing work. This year is a perfect example. Fairfield produced a level of work that was unsurpassed.?
