Fairfield First Fridays celebrates local talent

Fairfield First Fridays continues outdoors to enjoy the end of the summer season. The September event, Open Mic in Central Park, will be held in the gazebo on Friday, Sept. 6, from 6-10 p.m. Come hang out in Central Park to celebrate the beautiful weather, the community and enjoy the local talent!
Celebrating the talent in Fairfield will be the focus of this event. There will be open mic at the gazebo until 10 p.m., hosted by Fairfield First Friday's Board Member Paulina Sinaga. There is an amazing amount of talent in Fairfield.
There will be many local artists, nonprofits and a few new additions set up around Central Park. There will be a section of the square set up with lawn games for some friendly competition with family and friends. The First Friday's Photo Booth will be set up and ready to use, take pictures with friends using the fun props provided!
There will be many stores, galleries and venues open on and around the square, a few are listed below:
' Americus Gallery featuring Christopher Kufner's new show called 'The Muse” consisting of 18 paintings from his private collection. Several of these paintings are new and have not been displayed outside of the artists private residence. Also, showing original oil paintings by Kim Kufner, New Original watercolor and ink paintings by Genevra Bell, Art Glass Vases by David Lotton and diochroic glass jewelry by Pedro Lujano.
' Art FiftyTwo will host the MIU 77-79 40th Year Alumni and Faculty Reunion Art Show. It opens at 6:30 p.m. Friday and continues 1-4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays until Sept. 20.
' At Home Store - stop in to see what Rosie has going on.
' Chakra Steps is celebrating two years.
' Chickadee will be open.
' Crest Jewel with paintings by David Kupferman and Terrence Kenneday.
' The Fairfield Art Association's annual summer art installation 'Pipe Dreams” will end on Friday, Sept. 6, along with the silent auction bidding at 8 p.m. The 11 artworks are in the garden nodes around the square and up Main Street, with the bid sheets at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center in the Main Gallery area. The Main Gallery exhibit continues with 'LaDi: Layered Digital Imaging” by Sara Slee Brown, an Iowa City artist.
' Health and Wholeness will have 'Pillars of the Community -- Collection One” by Kesryth. The opening reception will be 6-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6. The show will continue until Oct. 25. This show contains eight portraits of people who are a large part of what makes Fairfield the wonderful place it is. Those whose portraits will be included are Bill Teeple, Dr. John Hagelin, Mayor Ed Malloy, among others.
' Henderson's/Cindy's Art Beat will have new works by Square One Artisans on display. The Watercolor Show will continue through Sept. 29.
' ICON Gallery's Main Gallery will have Fairfield Collects. It is a rare opportunity to see highlights of artworks from private Fairfield collections. The exhibit includes art from many countries, time periods, and genres, and will feature original works by Warhol, Blakelock, Courbet, Dali, Boudin, and many others. ICON Mezzanine will have The Hudson Collection.
' Kim's Kottage by Missy has gift items and always new stuff.
' SOMM Wines will have free wine tasting from 5-9 p.m.
' Stuff a Bear and More has a free game for a chance to win a Stuff a Bear and More gift certificate.
' Thymely Solutions is a place to shop for gifts, health and beautiful things.
