Nicole Kay Singer, age 9, of Fairfield has been chosen as a state finalist in the National American Miss Iowa Pageant to be held July 22-24 at the Ramada Hotel and Convention Center in Waterloo.
The National American Miss pageants are held for girls ages 4-18 and have five different age divisions.
Nicole, the daughter of Bobbi and Tim Wallace and Brian Singer and Anna Sloan, all of Fairfield, will be participating in the Junior Pre-Teen age division, along with other girls ages 7-9 from across Iowa.
Nicole has been a football cheerleader for the Fairfield Trojans for the past four years. She will be entering fifth grade at Fairfield Middle School in August.
At National American Miss, participants take part in four areas of competition: formal wear, personal introduction, interview and community service project. The pageant doesn?t have a swimsuit competition and makeup is not allowed on contestants who are 12 years old and younger. Emphasis is put on the importance of developing self-confidence, learning good sportsmanship, as well as setting and achieving personal goals. The pageant recognizes the accomplishments of each girl while encouraging her to set goals for the future.
Nicole is in need of pageant sponsors, and cash and credit cards are accepted through July 22. Call the Wallaces at (641) 209-9939 for information.
