Fairfield library announces revised curbside service, Zoom book clubs

Although the Fairfield Public Library is closed to the public, employees have discovered new ways to serve.
Curbside delivery service continues with new hours: Monday thru Friday from 11:00am-1:00pm and 3:00pm-5:00pm. Patrons have two options: Either borrow items by logging into your account and placing holds, or call the library after 9:00am to request items by phone. Due to staffing limitations, online holds are encouraged.
You will receive a phone call once your items have been gathered and bagged for pickup. Please park near the front entrance, remain in your vehicle with windows shut, and call the front desk at 472-6551 ext. 2 to announce your arrival. Display your photo ID thru the closed window. An employee will leave items on the hood of your vehicle and walk away.
Looking for a safe way to hold your book club meetings during COVID-19? The library now hosts free virtual book club meetings via Zoom, which is a cloud-based video conferencing platform. Although you are not required to purchase a Zoom account to attend a meeting, the application works best if you download the free version before signing into a password-protected session. You can see other attendees by using a webcam, or you can participate with audio only. Those who are interested in this service are welcome to call 472-6551 ext. 2 after 9:00am Monday-Friday for details. Advance practice sessions will be provided upon request.
Patrons continue to return borrowed materials in the book drop, on the south side of the building. Returned items are quarantined for three full days. On day four, they are returned to the shelves or routed to the next borrower. This routine meets and exceeds safety recommendations from the American Library Association.
