Representatives of the Fairfield Lions Club visited the Fairfield Middle School on Thursday, Nov. 20, to honor three students for winning the Fairfield Lions Club Peace Poster Contest. This is a tradition the club was excited to bring back to the community after a hiatus for several years.
For nearly four decades, the Lions International Peace Poster Contest has given children ages 11-13 the opportunity to share what peace means to them through art. Each year, Lions Clubs around the world sponsor the contest in schools and organized youth groups, giving young people the opportunity to be recognized at local and international levels — and awarded a grand prize of $5,000 — for their creativity in sharing their vision of the current year’s theme.
Our local winners were awarded $100 for first place, $75 for second place, and $50 for third place. Congratulations! Thank you for sharing your vision of peace.
