Fairfield Middle School hosts Jump Rope for Heart

The fifth grade and the sixth grade students at Fairfield Middle School participated in the annual Jump Rope for Heart event at the Fairfield Middle School. Both classes participated during their physical education classes from Feb. 8 to March 5 with several students raising funds and getting donations.
The students raised $2,641.98 for the American Heart Association, which funds research, programs and education to fight heart disease and stroke, the country's No. 1 and No. 4 killers.
'We were so pleased with the success of this year's event, especially with the pandemic and the economy is at the moment,” said Nancy Diers and Jerrod Belzer, physical education instructors at FMS. 'We all had a lot of fun and the kids enjoyed learning about the importance of physical activity and how they can play a role in saving lives.”
The fifth grade garnered $1,515.71 in donations. Its top fundraisers were:

Anna McAvan- $75.00
Grace Helterbran- $75.00
Lucas Burgmeier- $70.78

The sixth grade garnered $1,119.27. Its top fundraisers were:
Bryce McCracken- $171.04
Matthew Blomme- $150.00
Brent Maudlin- $110.00
Alejandra Carminhato- $100.00
Cylas Elder- $70.00
Leigha Ensminger- $55.00
Any student that raised over $150 got to put a whip cream pie in Mrs. Diers' face during the Thursday, March 11 lunch period.
Jump Rope for Heart is a program that promotes physical activity and heart health through jumping rope. It is co-sponsored by the American Heart Association and SHAPE America-Society of Health and Physical Education.
